I saw and tried the Corum Admiral's Cup Black Hull today, and completely fell in love! However, I don't think paying full retail for a Corum is a good idea...so can anyone suggest any other large all-black watches?

Will I be first in recommending Sinn here? wink

Or, for a bit more money, a big black Panerai....

Are you after the complications as well, or just like the PVD finish? Plenty of watches available with black PVD these days smile

fk me. I just found my grail watch.

Edit: £7k, used, eh? Could be worse I suppose.

Some nice selections!

Well I have a Panerai, so would like another brand really...and I'd snap the AP up in a flash, but £20k is too much for me...around £4k max

And as for the Sinn's...I can't quite get my head around them, there's something about them that don't do it for me...may I even be sol bold as to suggest they are a touch ...[stutters]...copywatch? [ducks]

Not sure what they are copying, though. I can't find anything else that is similar. Damasko? IWC? B&R? Not really.

...of what though? tbh some of the most original designs i can think of for 'tool' watches. Especially those pictured. I'm really struggling not to pull the trigger myself. Your budget does offer quite a choice.
Iwc ceramics?

The Flieger designs are very IWC. The EZM specials are a bit like the IWC GSTs. Not sure about the rest though.

Anyway, wasn't the CEO of Sinn an ex-IWC guy? Or am I terminally confused?

I only mentioned them because the OP specified that buying a Corum new was probably over budget - if he's willing to pay £4k then the Sinn is probably too cheap for him.

When i look at the overall Sinn range I get a feeling that there are strong links between other watches...not necessarily those particular models.

The Corum could be done, but they have very bad resale values...which puts me off...I'd rather wait a year or 2 and let someone else take the hit...just the way i am wired i'm afraid...

Well, kinda but not quite. They don't do a Flieger with 1 through to 12 unlike Damasko. That's why I prefer Sinn over Damasko.

Reckon the main competitors have already been shown above. I mean, I know big watches are the thing but there can't be that many around at 48mm in this price range. Still, if you aren't convinced but want to try something out for fun look here:-

binned

Are these 'super-replicas' actually any good? or can you spot them a mile off if you are familiar with the real thing?

Yeah, I was waiting for that......................

However Cyberface, who knows his watches, has commented on these in another thread and actaully bought one and taken it apart. He reckons they are damned good for the price, taking a great deal of effort to discern even the slightest difference now. He terms them the "super-replicas" and it was he who gave me the idea to buy one before laying out big bucks on the real thing in case I didn't like it. And who can disagree at the price?
