When I was last there in 2004, watch prices were a good bit more than the UK. One could haggle a little but the AD's were not giving away much and in the end was only slightly cheaper than RRP in the UK. As such with some haggling in the UK it was cheaper here.

I would suspect that whilst the dollar was weak Dubai was good value. At present, whilst the dollar is not strong, it is nowhere near as weak as it was a couple of years ago so probably comparble to the UK.

I may be wrong but then Asterix will be along soon to correct me.

Soft Top is right, when the GBP/AED was up in the 7's, there were some good deals (on everything not just watches), it then dropped to 5, now is up to 6.

It will probably work out similar to the UK, but with more potential hassle should the worst happen.

Waste of time.

You will pay no less (and probably slightly more) for most "high-end" watches in Dubai.

Have to agree. Dubai is expensive - don't I know it!

Saved loads on the Glashutte buying in Bangkok - 20%

The JLCs were probably at least 10% less in the UK and we haggled hard having bought a few now from the AD who knows us well.

The US is even better.

Dubai hasn't been cheap for anything for many years now.

My best buddy was head of Panerai in Dubai for 4 years.
He left about 2 years ago.
The availability of the watches is at least as difficult there than it is over here.

And given how crap the pound is against any currency at the moment, you are better of looking over here.

It depends on which model you are after.

Don't expect to see a great selection at any AD.

Avaliability of 40mm versions, some RADs & subs & bases ok, but models like the 026, 292, 233 etc won't be in stock at RRP.

Try Paneristi.com, a great selection of dealer & private Panerai for sale, great if you want something very specific or vintage.

This is lovley if you are feeling flush:
