movado help please
Discussion
I would really appreciate some advice. I have an old (50/60's i think) Movado watch that used to belong to my great uncle. It has a cream face, numbers at the 12, 2, 4, 8 and 10 o'clocks, second chrono at bottom of face and is marked 'switzerland' at the ver bottom. It also has a particularly nasty replacement bracelet, the face looks like it needs cleaning and it needs servicing as it sometimes stops if you pick it up off a table for instance.
From searhing around (tz etc) it seems the watch may only be worth 50 quid? but it has some sentimental value and i like the look of the watch. I would like to get a new leather strap and to get it serviced. Walking round the town centre i was given prices of 80-350 pounds but didnt get into what those prices include. Appreciating that it depends on extent of work needed can anyone recommend what i can expect to pay for a particular extent of work and which end of the quotes is perhaps more likely? I dont want to pay out hundreds when the watch is worth a fraction of the cost.
Also, would it be cheaper if I buy the strap off the tinternet and get it fitted at a high street watch repairer than as part of the service??
Thanks .

Id guess that youll be looking at about £60-£85 to service the watch, depending on type (manual, automatic, date etc). For this the watch will be completely stripped, cleaned, re-assembled (with any new parts you supply) and then adjusted. Itll come back as close to new as you can get.
