Hi all, regular lurker on Pistonheads in another section for some time now, but my first post in the watches section. Advice needed. Had my Seamaster pro midsize stolen in Barcelona (beware over-friendly street urchins!), so insurance claim will allow me to replace with something else, with some cash top-up. I'm an Omega devotee with an old Constellation, so want to stay in the family.
Think I'd now like to switch to a full size Speedmaster, but can't decide which one. I'd prefer to at least have the date, not necessarily the day/month as well, and think I'd like to stick with an auto rather than manual winder (definitely not a quartz). This means I've sort of ruled out the Speedy Pro and it's down to the auto day or day/date, but I like the link of the Pro to the Apollo missions. Help, advice and opinions would be much appreciated. It will be a keeper for life...hopefully!

Sounds mega fussy but not keen on the font of numbers either on face or bezel!

I like the restrained, less obvious look and light weight, of my titanium Seamaster Pro.

How do you find it keeps time? I've got one and it's never kept very good time. Loses or gains 15 secs a day. It's been back to those shyster rip-off merchants (Omega) and they've charged me a fortune and... not fixed the problem. In fact they sent the bloody thing back with the rear cover loose.

Planet Ocean Black - looks great apart from my dislike of the font for the numbers.
Planet Ocean Orange - don't think I could live with the colour long term, bit too loud for my tastes (no offense).
Seamaster Pro Titanium - just my personal opinion but I think the non-coloured bezel unbalances the look...
Keep the recommendations coming guys, I do appreciate them, and you've made me look at watches I hadn't yet considered!

If you can find one my choice would be the 2254.50.00 They have been discontinued now, but there are a few still floating around new at AD's.

Has a killer lume as well -

The other choice would be an Aqua Terra - sorry don't have any pictures of one, but IMHO again it is an all-round watch, smart enough for a suit and casual enough to wear down the pub. Good luck on your search and let us know how you get on.

Have to say I wasn't that impressed at it's timekeeping at first, it was probably in the range that you describe. I assumed it just needed to bed itself in for a while.
But, when it was just over a year old, it suddenley went into warp drive overnight and was gaining 2hrs in every 24...eek
I took it back to the AD and they sent it away to Omega, and it came back 2 months later fixed, and as a plus it's been a LOT more accurate ever since.
Didn't cost me anything as it was still under it's 2 year Omega warranty.

I'll second the aqua terra, it is a real go anywhere watch. I also like that not many people have them as everyone buys the dive watches. Don't get me wrong, i'd like one of those two, but as an everyday wearer, aqua terra is a great choice.

I'll THIRD the Aqua Terra. Here's mine:

Although this photo shows off the white face, blue hands and blue markings to a much better effect:

A beautifully proportioned, clean-looking watch, versatile to wear with smart-casual, or a suit. Got mine from Dominic H. for a very nice discount too.

I've got the black version, but I do also like the white and blue combo a lot.

I like the white GMT, it's just that bit different.
