Anyone heard of...

... Kurt Zeiss?
Whilst doing a bit of research on a certain Scottish gentleman, I came across these watches.
Never heard of them in my life, and they look to be just "designer" watches.
However I think this looks seriously cool - http://www.kurtzeiss.com/viper/

Aren't they the ones advertised in the Sunday papers, miraculously reduced in price from £599 to £159.99 (although where you'd find them to buy other from their own ads I don't know)?
You may be thinking of that well-known historical and international horological expert Klaus Kobec !!Having had a quick look, the Viper model looks just like watches in the Oakley range, the Classic Mens model is trying its hardest to be an Omega Seamaster and the Sport model is a Breitling rip-off. Bizarrely, Duncan Bannatyne from Dragons' Den seems to be their global ambassador, whatever that amounts to. I think Theo would laugh at him if he knew.
The designs are mainly copies of other brands and there is nothing about the watch other than a hastily-thought up brand name that would indicate any link to the Swiss watch industry. You can do so much better at either Werners Flying Watches or by buying a Seiko. And for those reasons, I'm oot.

As has been said, you're thinking of Klaus Kobec. I've often wondered, who the f**k is this Klaus fella? And as for where you'll find them at the original prices, that'll be the price of the design that they've shamlessly aped in a much lower quality case.
Kurt Zeiss? Duncan Bannatyne owns a quarter of it.
"The company was established by Mr Morgan in 2007 using £100,000 of his own money. Earlier this year, Mr Bannatyne, 60, injected an undisclosed amount for a quarter of the business. He adopted a strategic role and agreed to be the public face of the brand."
