Hi all,

My Dad has been fantastic this year and so I'm going to buy him a new watch as a thank you. He's never had a "proper" auto and likes mine, so that's the route I'm going down, but I've no idea what to get.

I want to get him something classical styled, no divers, sports etc. I also would prefer it to have a name on it so he may recognise it, though that's not essential.

I'm between a few:
I love the styling of this and, truth be told, want one myself:

I quite like this, but not sold on it:

I really like this, but it's more than I wanted to spend really:

Budget is up to £500, anyone got anything I've missed?

Stowa - the Antea Kliene Sekunde is very similar to the Nomos, But manual wind, the antea 365 is a 'bauhuas' style auto, good watchmaker with a good range. If you've an iPhone Stowa have their catalogue in an app.

Arg, forgot all about Stowa!

This is cracking, and it's an auto as well, but delivery time is out till February! Can you only get it from them online?

I think online is the only option, and unfortunately the lead times are always a bit long - small atelier, still, your dad may appreciate it a bit more for that.

Yup, you could well be right, certainly I've never seen one in the flesh s the chances of him seeing one are even less!

Mind you, he told me last night he owned an Alfa which I'd never known about in the early 70s so he can still surprise me!

Any others I've missed?

Could get a used Omega dress watch from the 60s and 70s for around £200-300?

That was my original idea, I'd seen Constellation on Chronomaster but it was sold, would have been perfect. I've not seen any others that I like, as I don't want any gold on it and that's a bit hard with watches from that era! Any suggestions were to look?
