Haven't actually seen these yet...I guess they may look a bit rubbish, but a stainless steel RC watch for £20 is a bargain.

These watches are both accurate to the second and self-correcting. They work using an integrated radio receiver which regularly receives time signals from a transmitter. The hands of the watch automatically self-adjust to reflect both the summer and the winter solstice and need very little adjustment.
  • Classic designs with stainless steel casing and mineral glass faces
  • Various straps including stainless steel, leather and more
  • Mini LCD display - displays seconds, day or date
  • Battery and instructions included
  • 3 year manufacturer's warranty
They're instore from Thursday. www.lidl.co.uk

I notice they've got an ultrasonic cleaner for £20, has anybody here used them to clean their watch? I'm wondering if it will get rid of the sweet sweat smell hurl on some of my leather straps.

Doubt it. Ultrasonic cleaners are generally for cleaning particles of dirt off hard surfaces - watch bracelets being the obvious area here. Doubt it will do anything for your strap.
You could do what I did when I was 15 and had my first leather strapped watch - douse it in Lynx at every occasion!

This would be an excellent way of shattering the crystal and any ceramic capacitors in a quarts watch, dependant on frequency.

Ultra sonics are just for cases, bracelets and stuff, don't stick the whole watch in!

Picked one of those ultrasonic cleaners today and had a pleasant afternoon cleaning various old bracelets .... then thought i'd move on to a watch case or two.
I took the movements out of a couple of old watches and cleaned the cases, watch back and stems in a solution of water and fairy liquid and they came up a real treat!
Definately a good buy for £20!
