Which watch, upto £500?
Discussion
Hey Guys,
Sorry to start another of these threads, but I'm after some guidance...
Mum and Dad have kindly offered to buy me a watch for my 21st birthday, which is at the end of the month. I've been looking around, and the criteria are:
But when I tried it on, it was a bit too thin on my wrist, didn't feel chunky enough.
I'm looking at Seiko (the sportura range), and as an example of what I like (but is far too expensive!)
Oris TT Black Chronograph
Also, I like the look of Omega Seamasters, TAG Monaco's etc.
Can anyone suggest anything in my price range? I'm not overly fussed on brand, open to suggestions!
Thanks,
Mr.Jimbo

- Budget of under £500
- Ideally Black/Black face, think they look smarter, open to suggestions though!
- not too blingy, like aviator features and such.

What about a Traser Classic Automatic Pro Blue?
360Degree view: http://www.thewatchdepartment.co.uk/watch.asp?prod...
PVD coated stainless steel case and bracelet, sapphire glass top & bottom, ETA 2824-2 automatic movement, display back and blue/orange tritium 'permanent light' vials for approximately £350

I really quite like the C600, had seen it, forgot to mention! But I really quite like it, apart from the strap, would prefer a metal one, maybe I'm just not keen on that particular rubber design.
Could you swap it for a black leather one perhaps? (after purchasing, obviously)
Also - can't decide if I prefer green and black or the blue, both are very smart
The traser looks good, prefer the CW one though...
Also - forgive my silly question - I don't know much about these things, What does automatic actually refer to? I also assume the light sources on these are always glowing away, not a push button light up thing, right?

An automatic watch is one that is powered by the movement of the wearer's wrists - A semicircular weight inside (rotor) rotates and winds the mainspring of the watch. An automatic watch is more appealing, as the watch 'lives' with you ... You can see the rotor on the image of the Traser I posted, although here is a close-up:
The tritium vials are constantly glowing and will do for 10-15 years. They are not as bright as fully-charged lume, but the vials do not need light to charge and remain a constant brightness throughout the night, whereas lume deminishes ...

that is fascinating, thanks for the info I assumed that only things labelled as "kinetic" etc, were like the kind you mentioned, the jeweller when I tried on the Citizen mentioned it was solar powered, which is pretty cool
Really like the Christopher Ward C600, are they online only?
Unfortunatly so...Really like the Christopher Ward C600, are they online only?
I'm very tempted by one (or two) at the moment. Especially as the one I like is in the sale.
They do however have a no quibble 60 day money back guarentee which from what i've read is pretty good, and is truely "no quibble"
And a five year guarentee.
ETA: I'm struggling to decide between the c4 and the c7.

Christopher Ward - as said, some nice pieces in the sale.
Oris - Goldsmiths have a number in their sale:

Asked Dad, he actually has a Christopher Ward, I knew I knew the name from somewhere so I've got faith in the guarantee, I think he sent one back in return for his
Really liking the C600, its top of the list at the moment, can't decide if I prefer blue or green though!
Those Oris are nice, but I think I only really liked it in solid black (typical - priciest!), they are very nice watches mind
