Ive got a GMT which I purchased about 5 years ago. Ive also got another Rolex which Ive had since the 80s

Anyway my "old" Rolex which I havent worn since getting the GMT was serviced every couple of years at great expense.

Ive yet to do this for the GMT and sort of feel I will wait and not service regularly on the basis that it takes so long and its expensive : good idea ?

A lot of people happily wait until they start to lose a significant amount of time before servicing, If it is running well I would leave well alone.

personally after 5 years I would think its time to get it to Rolex, not only will the movement get the works but the whole watch will come back like brand spanking new...that would feel good and should be worth the dosh!

That.
Unless it's not feeling or looking new I wouldn't bother. There are guys on TZ who have Rolexs that have been serviced once or twice in 40yrs that work fine.
