Been after some think different for some time now to add to my collection and kept being drawn to Hamilton. Bid on this Frogman automatic model on E-bay won it this morning. What do you guys think.

Love the two crowns (reminiscent of the IWC aquatimer which has two crowns at 2 and 4 - and the reason I bought one) but they're a bit OTT on that Hamilton IMO.

Movement looks interesting - subdials in odd places - what is it?

Its the Navy Frogman Chronograph. I also think they are a little OTT but the rest of it looks great and not to fussy. Most of my other pieces are mid size 38mm this at 43mm is just what I was after. The colour of the strap also drew me to it think it blends well

Oh I see what they've done - the entire movement has been rotated on the central axis, and the crown at 2:30 would normally be at 3, and that's why the subdial at the top is off-centre - it'd normally be at 12...

When I said 'what is it' I was referring to the movement - as due to the odd locations of the subdials I thought it might have been some special movement.

What about the date window though?

As the date is usually on something called the 'date wheel', which runs around the outer circumference of the movement, it just needs a hole through the face where you want. Of course you have put the numbers on the wheel in the correct orientation for the hole.

I also like it. Hamilton I think are quite under rated. They make some noce stuff at reasonable prices.

They have always been well regarded in the States as they are an American Company If you go to their website and look up movie star watches you will be surprised at all the movie stars who have worn Hamilton watches in their movies from Elvis to Russell Crowe (not Gladiator) Brilliant Mind

I was in Ernest Jones in Glasgow a few weeks ago and was looking at a cabinet full of Hamilton watches. The very nice saleslady came over and told me that the watches were a private collection that had featured in Hollywood movies. Sure enough there was wee hand written tags on each one: Elvis in ?, Mel Gibson in lethal weapon etc. It all looked very realistic but I think it was just an elaborate advertising display, as I'm sure Glasgow would be well down the list of display venues if they were the actual items used in the movies confused

Its another thumbs up for Hamilton from me too. I must have spent 18 months researching watches for my 30th, finally took delivery of a Hamilton Jazzmaster Chrono Auto this week.

Immensley pleased with it. Floodgates are open now though, this won't be the last watch I buy!

I like any watch that has rivets in the strap! Not to mention I like those Hamiltons anyway.

I think Hamilton make some stunning watches. I first saw them while on holiday in Aruba last year, loads of high end jewelers there to cater for the cruise ships. I ended up purchasing a Bvlgari dress watch while there, which I like but just do not wear it. I do like the look of another couple of Hamiltons which in time I think I will add to my collection

This is one of them

Thats also very nice Pesty
