Every watch tells a story

Something on another post made me think we are all watch lovers and probably have a story to go with lots of our watches,where they came from,how they were chosen,bargains,etc.
To set the ball rolling my 1976 speedmaster pro.found in a secondhand/pawn shop in Portsmouth £112 in 1979 about quarter price at the time.It was my first quality watch and for 20 years was my daily beater and evening watch rolled into one.It is retired now, works fine but given a well deserved rest.

I think at the time I was earning about £6000 a year and had just paid £21500 for a 3 bed house in Crewe with a morgage at 17.5% interest!
My wifes uncle was a watch repairer(camerons in Liverpool) so if the watch had been dud he would have fixed it so buying from the pawn shop was not too much of a worry.I suppose it wasn`t cheap but I had wanted one since seeing a teacher at school wearing one.The box I got from ebay for a few quid recently

This was my Grandfather's watch. It was given to him as a wedding gift from Lloyds Bank in 1932, and my Grandmother passed it on to me. I don't know what strap it had originally, but the leather strap it has now was made by my Great Uncle, Roland Golay. The Golays were a family of Swiss watch makers.
The inscription on the back says 'From "39" 15.7.32'. 'From 39' refers to 39 Threadneedle Street, London, the branch of Lloyds Bank where Grandfather was a Bank Clerk.
Apart from that, there is nothing on the outside of the watch to indicate its make. There is a Hallmark that says 9 and .375, (8 O'clock on the picture below) and on the opposite side the figures 9, 3 and 0.
It would be fascinating to find out if there was anything on the case inside that would give a clue as to the maker, or if any of you guys know anything about it!
