I want to get into the nice watch scene, but i havent the foggiest at present.

Since i was fairly young i have been a fan of tag heuers, but in the way of GOOD watches i dont know if TAG are, or if they are just for builders and air hostesses!

Anyone shed any light on them for me? and perhaps suggest some things around 1000gbp?

Thanks guys!

I like some of the Tag models, the Monaco is very nice. But my personal favourite is the Grand Carrera calibre 17

They're not that well-respected in watch enthusiast circles but outside of them... well... what do your friends or family think of them? (Assuming said friends or family aren't watch enthusiasts.)

ETA: in context, it would mean it'd be harder to sell at a decent price at a dealer or on specialist forums (watch variety not bondage variety) but maybe on ebay, gumtree or PH classifieds, you might get a nicer price when you want to sell it on.

I have a couple but picked them second hand and for a decent price, don't feel they are worth the full asking price to be honest so second hand yes, new not sure.

I have two. They were my first major watch spends and was more impulse than anything else. Since getting more into watches I'm looking at other watches but they are nice and haven't had any issues so far.

Up to five now, love the brand and the styling but the last Monaco seemed a terrible price

My first "proper watch" purchase as well, think they are a good introduction to better quality watches, only problem is they open the flood gates and then you need to think of even more excuses to the misses why you need another watch.

Ha ha. I find myself looking at certain similar watches wondering if she'd notice that this one has a black face black strap but red hands?

Cant use the "well how many shoes do you have" one anymore.

The Monster I am about to buy might be a tad hard to hide especially if I drop it.

Rather annoyingly I passed up an oportunity to buy an original Monaco a year or so ago. Idiot.

Quite fancy the new one, but the price is still far too high for me.

That could just work.

My Targa was a gift few years back...and this week led to another of the 'how many watches do you need when you can only wear one' discussions when my significantly better half got me to fess up to the railmaster on order... having said that she'd be no better.

Got one of these:

For my 21st and I love it to bits - it may not be as expensive or as well highly regarded as a lot of watches on here, but to be honest, I really don't care about all that.

Very Good Choice (IMO!!)
I've had one like this for 12 years and am very happy with it.

LOL - Same here too !

I have two Tag's also and love them both. The first was my first "big" watch purchase when I got my first salary as a contractor. The second a gift from my wife for our wedding.

I also have an F1 Kirium, but I am thinking of getting a Monaco 69.

Likewise - my first 'proper' brand of watch. Now I'm sure you can pay less (and no doubt considerably more) for a 'better' watch brand, but let's be fair nothing mechanical is going to be as accurate as a cheap as chips digital watch… So in my humble opinion, if you like the design and it keeps pretty good time, then stick it on your wrist and enjoy it!

My first Tag was a medium sized Kirium, then moved onto a Link Calibre 36 like this one:

Then my good lady bought me this for my 40th birthday and it hasn't been of my wrist since!

…In fact I love it so much, I've just had some stripes added to my Boxster for a charity driving event in August hehe

I have one that has the same body as that one but with a sapphire colored dial.
