Hi all,

Tried on a new Aquaracer this afternoon and found it very difficult to not pull the trigger there and then, it looked and felt perfect! I've been looking to treat myself for some months now to a new watch and I *think* that after trying this one for size I've found what I'm looking for, though I just have a couple of questions that neither the store or the TH website can answer for me.
I'd like to not be scared of wearing it for fear of marking the case or glass in some way, now I know that the glass is sapphire crystal but exactly how scratch resistant is it likely to be? And what about the quality of the steel being used? I know that watch makers such as Sinn use particular types of strengthened/hardened steel, what about Tag? I'd like to think that Tags are pretty hardy things!

I tried on the blue faced model rather than the black

Cheers smile

I have worn a Carrera daily for 3 years. Diy, car repairs etc etc.

Not a mark on the sapphire crystal face or watch body.

The steel bracelet where the clasp is very scratched though.

Thanks for your reply Andy, I'm going to be trying it on again within the next few days along with an Omega. A couple of Sinns have caught my eye as well but it's a complete PITA that it's not possible to try a few on before you buy!

Been very happy with mine but if I was buying today it would be a Sinn 956 Rally chronograph.

Jura watches do a 30 day try it on at home arrangement.....

I've got an Aquaracer and wear it everyday, it is very sturdy and isn't even marked. Would recommend one as a good everyday to anyone.

I've got an aquaracer chrono automatic. Love the watch and agree with comments above the face, body seem indestructible although the bracelet does get a bit marked. However, I find the automatic a right royal pita if I don't wear it for a couple of days as it stops. Never have this on my £60 second hand seiko....

I'd seen this on their website, when I said that I had my eye on a couple I actually meant 3 or 4, not too sure if they'd be prepared to send out that many on a trial basis hehe
And their actual Store (The Watch Gallery) doesn't list Sinns as a brand that they stock..... I'll give them a call in a few days to see what the options are!

Tried one on when looking for a tough, everyday watch and thought it would be excellent. The rubber bezel helps alot. It's a really nicely proportioned watch, I didn't particularly like to the look of it in photos but it wears very nicely.

Been wearing my aquaracer for the best part of 2 years everyday - no scratches, only thing giving it away as a used watch is that some of the edges on the bezel look a bit shinier than they did when new.

+1. I've worn my Aquaracer every day for the last 5 or 6 years. The face is perfect, but the strap is scratched - and it has been knocked around a fair bit. I've been very, very impressed with it.

The bottom where the clasp is will always get scratched though to be fair. Thinking of a Carrera next, do you guys have experiences of them?

Something like this bad boy:

my mate has that watch. It's very nice, and is a good solid weight, but if you have girly wrists like me I would look elsewhere...

Yes, I have got that very same watch too. It is nice, particularly the display back but to be honest, I wish I had bought an Omega or a Breitling instead as it is a bit 'dressy' rather than rugged and does tend to scuff very easily.

I have this http://www.tagheuer.com/the-collection/aquaracer/m... and wear it everyday for last 10 months. There are no scratches on the glass, however at some angles you can see where the anti-reflex coat is gone.

Blimey. It seems like a lot of money for a 2824-2, dunnit?

Nice watch, mind, and I don't doubt that it'll be decently put together, but it feels at least a grand too rich for me, wot with being non-chronometer grade and all that.

Still, they've tarted it up quite nicely:

This is all based on me finding that these things tend to go for around £1700. If you can actually get one for about £800-900, then ignore these ravings, and I'll go back under my rock.

(Hmm. There's a tidy one on Chrono24 for $1150, which is >counts on fingers< £740.98. That's more like it!)

Good price I would say. smile
Don't really like Tags although this is my 2nd in as many months and I grew to like the first one a bit so we'll see what I make of this one... biggrin

That's an entirely reasonable price for that sort of thing, in my humble, assuming it's in as good a condition as the pictures would lead one to believe. Tidy-looking watch, that.

Half-price for a not-very used watch. Can't be bad.

It's also one of the reasons I wouldn't buy a new TAG; the residual falls off a cliff.

Even better if you knew the deal I'd done on it. wink
So "good" it almost made me blush. Almost. biggrin
