Assuming they paid list of course.

Ouch

Wonder what they gave him for it?

Thing is, I really quite like the regular day-date.

But 12 large in a month on a watch. You've got to be a pretty high-roller to not feel that. Or a footballer, I suppose.

Good lord, I was just sick in my mouth!

Assuming that they got %15 off list, that's a loss of 6.4k plus the jewellers cut redface

And the shop has to pay VAT so that's another 17.5% to deduct, so that more than wipes out the 15% discount for having no class laugh

I thought Rolex ADs were notorious for not giving discounts?

If you were coughing up nearly £40k for a watch I'd suggest they're probably a 'special' customer (in more ways than one! wink) and are likely to get a discount!
That is god awful hideous though... yuck

Firstly, I am not having a go at you.

However, I hear this trotted out time and again (particulalry on TZ).

Discounts are relativley easy to get on new "sports" Rolex.

You obviously have to persist as they will not just offer them up. However, a little bit of good natured discussion will yield a positive result.

Every time.

yes

Now if it was a plain plat/white gold DJ without the nasty dial and with no bling diamonds then it would be rather nice smile

A very close family friend once said to me about watches: "You are nothing until you have a platinum diamond rolex" I'll be honest his argument was a little valid, then he showed me his! It weighed a ton.

Maybe I'm just an old git, but to me, 'diamonds are a girls best friend' still holds true, and I can't fathom why any hetrosexual male would desire to adorn themselves with any watch/jewellery/object etc., that has been encrusted with said sparkly stones....... confused

Lets face it anyone who bought that in the first place deserves to lose money on that.

Well!

I don't know about "taking a bit of a hit with this"- i think whoever bought it should be slapped to death with iteek

It's the most fugly thing i've ever seen vomit

Jewels should be on the inside of a watch- never on the outsiderolleyes

Discounts of 30% or so are not unheard of on some of the more expensive Rolex models(a well known independant dealer got me in excess of this 3 years ago when I bought my partners Pearlmaster 80299)At the time I paid £13k, with the subsequent price rises that watch now lists at nearly £26k

I'm not really sure as to why said family friend decided to go for that particular watch, he also has a beautiful Patek in 18k gold which is sublime.

Perhaps it was a gift from the arabs for good service ( valet, room service, maid etc etc ), so even selling at 20k to a dealer is a good tip.
