Ive been wanting to buy a nice watch for just for "going out" for a while now. I really like the Seiko Sportura like the one below.

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&am...

Can anyone tell me if they are any good? Will it look nice with a suit for weddings etc?

I know its a fairly big watch but I have quite big wrists so I think it will look just fine on me.

Thanks in advance.

Nice watches Seikos, you'll find quite a few fans here. They're one of not that many that make the entire watch inhouse - the case, bracelet, automatic movement, even the material that makes the hands and hour markers glow if you belive everything that wikipedia says! Only you can decide if it'll be suitable with suits etc, personally I think that if you were to have just the one watch a sports chrono like this does smart and casual well. Have a look in some of the High Street jewellers and try it on if you can find it, and a quick look on the web has found a brand new boxed model for just over £200 so keep an eye on the bids.

ETA I'm a proud Seiko owner and got mine through this site, very good service!

This is my daily beater.

I quite like it and it has survived two big accidents with me coming off my motorbike so is quite hard wearing. A bit scratched up at the top end though.

I have the leather strap but i quite like that one there your tracking.

Should look OK with a suit also.

Edit:

Whoops, can you tell I don't use the date wheel.

i have owned the black gunmetal digital version, excellent timekeepiing, hardwearing and very comfortable to wear too.
Great worldtime feature if you travel abroad a lot.

I have always been disappointed by the bracelets and case finishes on Seiko watches. I have tried on some of their Spring Drive watches which i have to say are incredible but still the fit and finish of the bracelet and case was well below what in my opinion it should be.

Thanks for the replies everyone, I'll keep my eye on the eBay one but the one on that website maybe the better bet!
