Diamond earings

I confess-i know buggar all about diamonds. Asking Ph chaps who do know a fair bit. been offered these. Look very nice but naturally id like to know one simple question. If a reputable certifier err certifies then what would be a good price to pay. they have been on someones elses lobes. But to me that doesnt matter. A good diamond is just that. Please assume a recognised inspection-i take the view colour, cut, claity-like for like pretty much the same so can someone give me an idea ball park-thanks

Isn't there some rule that if the lady who was previously wearing them died when they were still in her ears (i.e. she died wearing the diamonds) then anyone else wearing those particular stones is destined to become a vampire?

I'm sure someone reasonably reliable told me this when I was reasonably sober. May be worth checking out the history before working out a price.

Clarity would be I1 or I2 which means they have visible inclusions (flaws) within the diamond these could be visible with the naked eye or you may require magnification, Colour G is pretty good.

Price wise buying, selling or insurance?

Would be buying Ian but if they have visible defects I would pass. Interested to know what a good price would be..thanks

Not an expert but my guess would be around the 800-900 mark based on some I saw in a sh brighton jewellers window today.

2nd hand jewellery especially earrings don’t hold value that well but the stones alone should be worth £2k+ (matching cut stones in the 1 carat category are unusual).

Ian, thanks for your post. i appreciate grade is all important. I called the hatten garden jeweller who supplied my wifes engagement ring-quoted 1 carat per earring and the clarity. They had one grade better at 17K GBP. So the 3K used is more akin to a good deal, no. I would of course get them checked. Regards Adam
