There are some amazing watches discussed in this forum, beautifully designed but rather expensive!

This is to give those with watches bought with less extravagant budgets a place to discuss and show appreciation.

I’ll start with mine. I had been looking at Hamiltons, Raymond Weils and Tissots but what I really wanted was a tag Monaco. I decided not to go for one of the middle of the range watches and just went for a Pulsar! I really liked the look of the watch and the quality of the case and strap seams very good! It apparently has Seiko mechanicals and has more than enough functions for me! Should keep me going until the Tag Fund is full! Oh and it cost me £57.

I bought this last night, just under the ton; don't ask why, bleary-eyed pissheadedness probably.

Seiko A829-6010 "Astronaut":

(But I've got a fresh NOS bezel also, well, strictly it's a 6020 bezel, but hey-ho smile )

To hopefully end up like this:
(You rotate the bezel to set the mode)

A widely used watch in the space program in the eighties. hic.

I got one of these for £85 off ebay earlier this year. A wine fuelled purchase but very pleased with it.

The watch that everyone seemed to discover about a year after I did, Seiko SNK809K2 (but on a nice leather strap these days):

And what gets most wear, my titanium Citizen Promaster NY0054-04E (on a NATO now):

Nope, non at all. I am by no means educated in the matter, sorry.

Many seem to be coming from India and I am a tad anxious to pay my money without full assurance the watch is real.

I will repeat what CraigW said............any tips?

Excuse my ignorance but if you pay by paypal and the item is fake and the seller won't refund you, won't paypal give you the refund and automatically take the money from the seller?

confused

Probably more in the playground than in Skylab.

The seller has chucked in a new crystal and gaskets so once it goes for a service it'll be tip-top. They are quite hard to find and the more I look at them with the rotating mode bezel, excellent bezel grip designs, colours and history, the more I think this could be one to hang on to for the future.

For a ton, you can't go wrong I reckon.

I was looking at an Omega 600 as it says they are available under a ton..

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Omega-Seamaster-600-Vintage-...

This one ( ok it is more) *HAS* to be fake though right? I mean not a scratch on it, no aging at all on the dial?

hehe

ISTR that watches out of India and the Philippines tend to be frankenwatches, made up from bits of other pieces. Not strictly fake as they're Omega parts but... hehe

Oh, I am sure I saw someone selling an SM600 that looked like that and was considered genuine for around £300-400.

Yup, iirc it cost me £84. Now, I have spent a fair bit on having it serviced and a new crystal fitted (at LVMH as they were the only ones who could supply a new crystal for it), so I suppose it technically doesn't qualify for the £100 limit but based on the purchase price it does ...

And, no, before you ask I wouldn't let it go for £100 ... wink
