My Birthday is in few months or so and I'm thinking of treating myself (or maybe dropping a hint to the GF...hehe) in order to celebrate, and I'm thinking along the lines of one of these

It looks like there's a 3 month waiting list for the Marine which is fine by me, has anyone here ordered from Stowa before? Was their quoted delivery time accurate? And does anyone have any wrist shots? Would use the search function but it's currently AWOL...

Cheers smile

I love my MO. Apart from buying a few watches for a few hundred quid, this was, and still is, the only watch ive spent a fair wedge on. Although mine is the roman numeral version on a Toshi.

Its nice to go with something a little different rather an the rest of jo public buying Tags / Omega etc, as you probably wont see another MO "In the wild" as it were.

Size wise, it has very good presence on my wrist, and it always recieves positive comments. My wrist is about six and a half inches in size so the MO just suits it nicely (it wears quite big, but its not OTT). The Unitas 6498 is a thing of beauty as well. The only problem sometimes, is that I sometimes forget to wind it when I wake up every morning! I still keep telling myself its one thing I must get into the habbit of doing, just like putting my glasses on every morning!

Stowa also do a cheaper Marine, which is an automatic with date function, so maybe a little more practical if its going to more or less be a daily wearer.

Customer service is Fantastic. Something Stowa are well known for. I ordered my MO via email on the 20th July 2009 and had it by 7th October. The wait is WELL worth it smile

A lot of my friends are amazed that I would spend so much on a watch, but to be fair, I was looking for a decent watch, and as soon as i saw the Stowa MO romans, I had to have it (as well as the fact it actually reminds me of a clock my nan and grandad used to have in their lounge! stupid hey, so its a little sentimental as well!)

I know the MO is seen as a dressy sort of watch, but I wear mine every day. The standard strap was good but after more or less daily wearing for 6 months, it was pretty manky, so I contacted Rich from Toshi. His straps are fantastic and very well recommended on all the watch forums.

Everyone will have an opinion, but if you like the watch, buy it smile Stowa seems to have a very good reputation, and ive yet to hear any bad comments on Stowa. Also join their official forum here: http://forums.watchuseek.com/forumdisplay.php?f=36

Jörg himself posts on there, and is happy to resolve any issues, as well as listen to comments on his watches. There are cheaper alternatives to the Stowa that look the same, but Stowas reputation for excellant build quality and customer service sealed the deal for me smile

/and sorry for rambling! Drop me an email if you want to know any more. I'll do my best to help!

Good pics thumbup Almost went for a MO but in the end I chose the Kleine Sekunde as I wanted a dress watch that was small and slim. It should be here in a couple of months and the wait is killing me.

I have the watch in the OP, with the addition of a deployment buckle.

My fiancee ordered it as a wedding present to me, and she did say that Stowa were very good to deal with, and the watch actually arrived before their quoted lead time.

I love it and it looks every bit as lovely in the flesh as it does in photos.

No wrist shots & I got mine pre-owned so can't comment re delivery time accuracy, but I had the brushed finish MO

It was a nice bit of kit, but I just found the dial a little large for the overall case size. That coupled with the domed crystal meant I moved it on pretty quickly.

Many thanks for your responses guys thumbup

Great to hear someone rambling/gushing about their watch James, nothing wrong with that at all! Have just had a look at the straps on the Toshi website - wow - and the fact that the watch has a hand wound movement in it is part of the attraction for me, that being a classic old world faced watch with old world style workings. I'm pretty sure that I'll be going for the MO style as posted (polished case, white face, arabic numerals) but it's good to see the alternatives posted here, I've got a month or so to make up my mind.... and drop that hint hehe

I've had Stowa Flieger for a couple of years now. It's great. It gets bashed around quite a bit, dropped, worn doing DIY etc and there's hardly a mark on it. No marks on the crystal at all. It's an auto (not the upgraded movement) and the time keeping is excellent. Can't remember the last time I set the time and right now its not more than a few seconds out. I shall be adding a Marine to my collection (of one up to now) as soon as I can.

In summary, get one you won't regret it. The wait will do your head in though.
