Hi guys (first watch post for me)

The wife wants some ideas for a xmas pressie for me. First thing that sprang to mind was a watch but as we're not brimming with cash at the moment Omega's a Panerai's are out of the window.

I've got a couple of G shocks (metal bracelet types) and an Accurist i use as a daily beater but i'm look for something that looks just a little more special.

Had a a look here http://www.siswatch727.com/index.do but i've no idea what they're like to deal with.

Any other suggestions, she doesn't want to pay more than £200

Thanks

Getat are good to deal with, but I would suggest he wouldn't be able to sort you out before Christmas.

Have a look at Tissot...having recently acquired a PR 50 Chronograph as my first Tissot, I am very impressed with the quality & finish as well as the functionality. They can be found at any decent jewellers ie www.goldsmiths.co.uk/categories/watch-selection/ti... ( although you can get them cheaper elsewhere ).
Best of all, they are actually Made in Switzerland by a firm that has been producing watches since 1853 !!

I think it depends if you go for a custom made spec or a standard one. I got one of these http://www.siswatch727.com/showroom/model/largepic... a couple of months ago and delivery was about 10 days. I got too confused by the choices to spec my own, luckily mine came with white stiching on the strap, which is one thing I would have chosen. Great comapny to deal with and the watch is amazing quality for the price and keeps excellent time. Also have a look at http://shop.ebay.com/merchant/xiaosong12580_W0QQ_i... and
http://stores.ebay.co.uk/uswatchshop - I've used both and got great watches and service every time.

I had a Parnis too, and the strap was shocking.

You're correct though, I had a custom Getat and it took a while.

OP should plough through this thread if he's thinking of ordering :

I think we discussed this on a previous thread, I have a few Parnis watches and the straps are good on all of them, but I think I paid more than you IIRC. Got mine from xiaosong (link above), they come in bubble wrap rather than boxes. Got a couple of Tao watches from uswatchshop, they come very well packaged, in large polystyrene boxes. Both sites (and Getat) delivered in 8 - 10 days so you should have no problem getting a watch for Xmas, unless you custom spec a Getat.

I'd go for a Seiko Black Monster - £140 from eBay: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/SEIKO-MENS-AUTOMATIC-MONSTER...

Great movement, and they look the part too!

£159.99 is £160, not £140. Black Monster is £126 (free delivery) on Creation http://www.creationwatches.com/products/seiko-dive... where you will also find a massive choice of Seiko and Citizen autos for under £200. Creation are very good to deal with, highly recommended.

Awesome watches for the money and you won't see them 'in the wild' very often as they're not available in UK jewellers. got mine through Creation thumbup
