I just listed my Tudor Sub on my house contents ins. The new for old value is about £4.5K (I have used the Rolex Sub price). Anyway the ins cost was about £170 pa. Does that seem about right?

My PAM312 insured for £4.5k there may have been a small increase in premium but not noticable when did it at renewal. That price is way over the top, mines also insured away from home /accidental etc

Just about to have an argument with Hiscox about watches and Pushbikes, they have some very silly conditions in my renewal documents, maybe it's time to move

Care to embelish?

I'm with Hiscox & the value of my "valuables" has tripped the threshold beyond which they are asking for a burglar alarm to be fitted, but generally I've found them very good.

My safe deposit box at Lloyds TSB costs me £30 a year.

It is a PITA going down there to get anything out, but compared with the loading on home insurance, it's a no-brainer.

(I'm renting at the moment, so no point installing a safe.)

Once you've moved why not buy a safe and charge other folk:-

Seems far too high tbh. I've got my Sub, Airking and Pam111 listed on my house insurance and it was an increase of about £35 pa.

I think my premium increased by just under forty pounds when I put my Cartier Roadster on the policy.

I am with prudential for contents. Was an employee so get staff discount. But I think I'll have to swallow it until renewal..!

Sorry Andy I didn't notice this.
until a couple of years ago I had a 606 hnw policy, they told me that their 505 policy was exactly the same, the difference being the 606 was a broker policy and the 505 is direct, I got my renewal and they have changed the unspecified valuables limit and the outbuildings cover, which is important to me as we have some valuable pushbikes, they also don't cover identity theft any more. They used to be the best in the market, I'm not sure now so I think it's time to shop around.

Well I got my annual renewal from Prudential and it was £940 pa for contents only incl the watch! I have cancelled the policy! Tried Hiscox who have halved the premium. Sorted.
