The death of the watch?

Relatively interesting article on the possible decline of the wristwatch.
Be interested to hear people's thoughts on this. I, for one, would never replace having a watch with looking at my phone or computer. After all sometimes it's not possible to look at either of those.
Additionally I find wearing a watch totally normal, indeed not wearing one makes me feel a little naked.
It's the craftmanship and beauty of a watch that's half the appeal. It's not really the same when you look at the clock on your work PC!

Very interesting.
I was a relatively late starter with mobile 'phones, took a few years after they became mainstream before I could be bothered to get one - when I did, I slowly stopped using a watch. Now I've always loved watches, and they're easily something I could spend a lot of money on should I be in a position to do so, and (partly due to this forum
) I'm slowly building a collection of more reasonably priced pieces, and you know what? I'm starting to intentionally leave my mobile at home....
I can see the point about the younger generations not feeling the need to own a watch, most of my friends kids don't own one. Will they grow up without a watch however? I can't see it.

I found when at college, It was mainly due to the fact that most people were constantly on a phone/Ipod of some type with inbuilt clock's on them,so they did not bother,And saved themselves the cash of buying a decent watch.
Although not having a watch I spent the last two year's at college and was never late, as the time was always around me.

I suspect it a trend with the younger generation.
My grandfather always wore his Ingersol Pocket Watch, which was perhaps the thing back in the early 20's when men wore suits ties, and hats as well, plus the hob nail boots.
Lets face it, probably half of our youth can't tell the time anyway (Joking perhaps).
Personally I would rather have a quick look at my wrist watch, then keep looking at my phone, which isn't a really good time keeper anyway.
Each to their own.

Can you look at the time on a phone, while actually talking on it? Easier to look at a watch.
I use my watch in the car too. Wouldn't want to be tempted to look at the phone there aas you could end up with 3 points if you time* it wrong.
No clock in the car? That said, I actually did get a watch because the clock in the car had failed.I use my watch in the car too. Wouldn't want to be tempted to look at the phone there aas you could end up with 3 points if you time* it wrong.
- No pun intended.

Give me shout when Breitling make a mobile phone.
JLC made a camera back in the thirties, I advise anyone with a penchant for the unusual, well engineered expensive trinket - http://wallout.com/ultimate_gadget_1930s_jaeger_le...(no pic as on blower, but worth a look)

Polo has one, but I still use my watch some of the time in it.
