Watch recommendations for up to £150
Discussion
Hi all,
Looking for a Christmas present for my sister-in-law's boyfriend. He's a young guy, 21, and seems a trendy, scruffy, rocker type (I don't know the current terminology, he has messy hair, tattoos, etc.). But also is a forensic computer technician, so is quite interested in technology and seems to have an interest in cars and got very excited about a prospect of a watch. Based on all of that I think any kind of a dress watch, or a retro design is out, and my instinct tells me a bracelet rather than a strap is a must. But I thought to get him something decent and automatic, something with a soul. The budget is about £150. My own thoughts so far are a Seiko Monster, or a Mini Monster. I don't own either, so any thoughts/opinions on those, as well as any other recommendations will be gladly accepted.
Thank you!
Adi

A bit nerdy and funky you say......
I'd suggest the Phosphor World Time E Ink Watch

On budget and suitably nerdy and funky.

You know, that kind of watch probably makes a lot of sense, but to be honest I don't know if I could bring myself to buy one. He does seem to have a growing interest in more "mature" things shall we say. For instance he's been quite interested in my Lotus Elan, which was a very pleasant surprise as most young people don't seem to have any interest in classic cars, or any cars at all. So I think I'd like to get him a "proper" watch from a respected company. If he never wears it, so be it...

or more adult compromise (can always change strap later) £95 so some money left for beer tokens....I'm sure the watch gurus can advise if it's movement is okay or not for the price...
