Looking at my first foray into more expensive watch ownership. I've always liked the appearance of TAG watches, and have taken a liking to this model
http://www.goldsmiths.co.uk/product/tag-heuer-aqua...

I wouldn't buy from there, but would prefer to go to a local independent.

A couple of questions to the "watch" eductated on this forum:

1. What sort of discount might I expect to achieve on the above (if any)
2. As a watch, (ignoring the aesthetics of design), in terms of reliability and mechanism etc, am I likely to have any issues with choosing this model?
3. Any idea of some ongoing costs of ownership for a watch like this? Recommended service schedule etc?

Many thanks
Matt

Try some of the TAG factory shops. Normally about 30% off re-sale prices.

I have this exact watch and bought it from Goldsmiths in the sale last year for £500 smile

It's a great everyday watch, nice and chunky and looks good, but I've never been able to work out how to set the alarm confused However, it's not a chronometer at this price.

My best watch is an Omega Seamaster Aquaterra chronometer (silver with the white 'seaboard' effect dial) and I love it to bits, but would never wear it everyday. Once you buy a genuine chronometer, you can spend hours just looking at the second hand sweep round the dial soooooo smoothly wink

But this watch is three times the price of the Tag if you compare full list prices (I got 15% discount at Goldsmiths; you only need to ask!)

Man, thats a massive discount in a sale. It maybe worth me holding on until after Christmas and see what they reduce them to I guess.
If not, would you think a 15% discount is achievable at Goldsmiths on this TAG watch? (I appreciate you bought a different watch to get 15% off)

(Tony - thanks for contact, but I would prefer to purchase locally if possible)
