Got my eye on one on fleabay. Can anyone tell me anything about them that will be of use to me? Servicing cost, reliability etc? I know they're quite a "showy" watch but I really really like them!

I've had one for a couple of years. Having owned a 'Mk1' TAG F1 from the 80s/90s I liked the new version when it was released, and got one a couple of years back. Build quality is good for the price: the bezel has a very precise, mechanical action, the crystal is sapphire, and the entire watch feels quite nicely engineered. The bracelet looks good, and has a double-locking clasp with diver extension.

Reliability has been 100%, with usual decent quartz accuracy. Lume is average, it's superluminova and isn't that great during the night.

Servicing? It's a cheap quartz watch, other than battery change and seals, that's about it.

It wears quite small on the wrist, and is 'only' a 40mm case. The crystal also lacks any AR coating, which I find slightly annoying.

FWIW, I, too, bought it from Bicester TAG outlet as a warrantied ex-demo watch for £300.

I still have my Tag Heuer F1 Chronograph which has cost me £100 in the sixteen years I've owned it. That is two batteries and a new clasp this year. They are well made and as a quartz watch are very accurate. I will never sell it as it was my first chorongraph watch.

It's identical to this one http://www.calibre11.com/tag-heuer-f1-chronograph/

Here's mine:

A 2006 F1. Not worth the full RRP IMO, but well worth it at used prices. Bracelets are fantastic on them.
