Hi all,

My partners Omega Constellation (ladies) needs a new battery as it has come to a stop after 6/7 years.

How should I approach this please?

Any decent jewellers should be able to do it in front of you and will probably charge about £20.

TVM. No need to go to a main dealer and so on then?

Not for a Constellation no. Any decent jeweller (ideally not a major chain probably wink ) will easily do it.

If it were waterproof model then you have some other things to consider.

You could probably do it yourself if you just watch out for a tiny (2mm long) spring that may be used to hold things in place.

Question is then if I go DIY, which battery, and how to replace it correctly?

Cheers.

I don't know how the Constellation battery is retained, but if it means taking the back off, you will probably need a suitable caseback tool - unless you happen to have one, I'd recommend you just take it to any independent watch place - probably only be a tenner.

I wouldn't like to advise someone on something so expensive tbh...

Your partner has an Omega Constellation and you are considering a DIY battery change. Just take it to a reputable jeweller get a quote for a battery replacement and let them do the job if you are happy with the price. If you attempt it yourself and damage a vital part it could end up costing you many times more than letting the jeweller do the job.

Sorry to be blunt but an Omega deserves a litlle more than something from Elizabeth Duke wink

hehe I wouldn't attempt it for the first time with anything worth more than £10; I've taken apart loads of quartz watches in my time. Confident enough to take my Breitling apart just to have a look the other day.

Thank you all. I don't have a removal tool for the back, and will hand it over to a decent jeweller locally to do.

Peplow's in Worcester are an Omega specialist so you should be fine there
