A nice Sunday afternoon discussion for you all...

I am currently in the market for a new watch. I’ve got a Seiko at the moment, but its getting on and would like something else.

A few prerequisites:

I would prefer for it to have a leather strap. Although if I found the perfect one, I could live with a metal strap.

I would like one with some form of 'window' so that you can see the mechanism.

It needs to be less than £150. (Am I may be setting my sights a little low with this budget?)

Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Cheers

A "window" behind? A Seiko 5 will have this and be just as reliable as your current watch. See the £50 thread. The Seiko 5 is the MX5 of the watch section. wink

You could also have a look at www.wernersflyingwatches.com - they're actually Chinese-made watches; you can probably find them cheaper on you-know-where, but then you don't get the customer support... Nick is very good in that respect, I understand.

Cheers ShadownINja.

I maybe should have specified that i would prefer to see the mechanism from the front rather than the rear.

Do you want full-on skeleton or just a cut-out/window to show part of the mechanism?

Werner's do these skeletons:

I would prefer a half skeleton. The A1165 Half Phase Regulator isn't bad though.

I have ones of these:

Bulova BVA series. I picked it up in the states for $300 dollars although that was with 35% discount. So maybe a bit over budget but worth looking into as they are very nice watches for not a lot of money.

OP, the type of watch you are looking for is Tourbillon 'style' watches. They are not true Tourbillons but do have an exposed escapement and balance wheel in the dial.

Trias is German-Asian manufacturer who make them and they can be found on eBay, just do a search for Trias.

There are other models and other German-Asian manufacturers, but this example is $105 shipped.
