Stuck a bit on this one and though you lot could help me with a few suggestions, the GF has only ever had cheap disposable (never more than £30-£40) watches but seems to go through them very quickly as she is a Hairdresser so they get submerged daily and subject to hair dye and tint which runis the leather straps.

I have suggested a new watch for Chrismas, with a budget of upto £200... here are the criteria:

- Large(ish) round dial
- Bracelet rather than strap (due to the straps getting ruined quickly)
- Ideally a recognised manufacturer (such as Seiko) rather than a fashon watch
- Waterproof to a decent standard

Having visited one or 2 high street retailers to get ideas today she quite likes this one:

which is interesting as it's a chronograph (she gravitated towards these for some reason, suits here preference for a larger dial aswell) with Mother of Pearl (quite like this as it keeps it looking like a female watch)

I have found this Breil which is very nice and prefferable in my eyes

so with that as a rough basis, what can you reccomend (upto around £200)....unusual/smaller brands are fine, and oddball suggestions are welcome.

Thanks in advance

Have a look at Tissot, Iv just got my mum a PR100 for her birthday, seems very well made, saphire crystal and water resistant to 100m. Should get decent discount too ( I got £25 off the rrp £145 ).

Also looked at Mondaine but they are a bit of a marmite watch.

Christopher Ward often have sales too.

Dangerous. What us blokes like about watches and what women tend to like can be miles apart. Women generally prefer to convenience of a quartz watch, for instance.

What SNinja said. It's very decent of you to have a spec list that should mean that she'd have a reasonably decent watch but ultimately she'll like what she likes, I wouldn't get her something that *you* like, even if it's with the best intentions.
