Hi Guys

I am in Basel in Switzerland for the weekend. Do you know of any watch factories nearby or in Geneva that I can visit?

Arrived last night. There is an amazing number of watchmakers / jewellers here, and some lush used watches for sale. Favourite so far is a 1944 IWC that was issued to the Luftwaffe - will check it out today when the shop is open.

I also love how all the clocks in the street and in hotels etc are Rolex and Patek. Hmmmm - will one fit in my suitcase???

Thanks Guys.

It's a great place and I would recommend going. Very, very expensive though - our Hilton hotel would have been about £600 per night for a double room but I luckily used my Hilton points.

I was tempted by a 1982 GMT Master which had the old plastic glass and an old face without the rings around the luminous markers. Was about £4600 without box and papers.

I didn't go for it in the end as I didn't feel comfortable about spending so much from an unknown (to me ) shop.

Cue someone posting I missed out on the bargain of the century!

Any?
Not that many of watches, and we didn't visit any factories, but I will peruse my holiday snaps and post some up.
