I'm afraid the gold hands and markers on the silver dial don't really do it for me, sorry.

I am a huge IWC fan but the Portofino just does not do it for me, my wife on the other hand thinks its the nicest watch they do so it's horses for courses. You should be able to get a good deal on one if you shop around. I remember seeing a Rose Gold version in a dealer in Norwich going very cheap a year or so ago.

Looks okay but maybe too plain. Appreciate it's a simple classy design though

I'd swap the strap for a black one for wearing with suits, keep the other for a more casual look.

They do a black one, but I have something similar.

Personally I'd get a Stowa MO and spend the rest of the cash on expanding my collection...

Not the same quality of watch I'd guess?

I have an Aristo pilot's watch which looks great but at the end of the day close scrutiny reveals it not to be of the same ilk as an IWC etc.

Same quality? No, but certainly very good and it's a quarter of the price.

The Stowa is a completely different style!

That black IWC is stunning.

I have read your last 10 started topics, I looked at your garage, I see you suited to a Rolex Milgauss.[although I am worried about the bracelet]

First noticed/lusted after IWC's when I was around 30. Bought my first one at around 35 and my 4th at around 38.

Agreed - but they do/did a version with a white dial which I think is quite classy, in an understated way (borrowed images)

I'd also have a look at the GO Senator.

On looks alone, I'd take the IWC, although probably with the black face.

Late 30s.

38 but fancied that simple style when I was around 32, too. Reclaim your youth! Buy IWC Portofino!
