Silly Omega Seamaster pics...

I posted this in another thread, but thought other may enjoy them!
Just to give an idea that tool watches can well be quite well built!
You needn't be afraid of giving them a bath or a dip in the sea every now and then!
My Seamaster errr 'fell' into some water and then into the freezer!

To given an idea of how much ice the watch was in-

and as the ice melted-

ETA Pics are now fixed, imageshack had uploaded the full res ones of the last two pics by mistake.

^ Be interesting to see what Ball do specifically to their watches to claim the -40 range...?
I think Sinn use an oil whose viscosity remains stable down to about -40 (compared to standard oils which start to affect accuracy at about -15)
Brave lad Mr Bird - certainly impressive pics!!

The oil was something I was thinking of. It'd have been great to see the Seamaster ticking forwards despite being covered in ice, much like you get in the G-shock test video.

As the Omega Speedmaster was used in space should it not work from -55 to +125 degrees C? (Space component temp range).
Dunno how waterproof they are.andy_s said:

It was a bit, I knew it would hold together given I had seen another pic like it, but mine had no pressure cert. glazbagun said:
Out of curiosity, how much time did it gain from being in there?
No idea, it took so long to freeze solid, the watch had wound down by that time! RemainAllHoof said:
Does it still keep good time?
It did, no different to how it had been before. It has now been sold though. NeMiSiS said:
Hats off to you, you must have balls of steel.
Borrowed for my screensaver, hope you don't mind.
No problem at all, I can link to the full res one if people want?Borrowed for my screensaver, hope you don't mind.
I see what people mean about it linking to a larger version of the pic; it shouldn't be! I will try and sort that... Sorry.

I believe Ball use the same or very similar oils
Do it again- this time on full wind!
