I have a bi metal Rolex submariner with a blue bezel ,champagne dial, diamonds on the numerals and blue rubys on the hour , six and nine - only worn on high days and holidays - not an everyday piece by any means. I have the box , papers etc , and a service invoice from last year - its probably circa 2000 / 2001 . Im looking to move up to an all gold submariner . How are values of these watches doing just now , how is the market holding up and how much can I expect to get for my current watch . I really like the gold submariner - whats the wider view and opinion on this - sorry for all the questions . All those who take time to reply I'll buy them a beer !! ;-) Many thanks Barry

Not too sure on the values - check somewhere like www.blowers-jewellers.co.uk for a steer on pricing on the bi-metal and gold models

To be honest most folk on this forum, if they're into divers, tend to stick to the SS versions.

Go on, let's see a picture of it.

Is it a non date model ?

I'm no expert on the blingy stuff, but I would suggest demand for them is in a lull. It'll realise a lot more in value when they are back in vogue. Have a look at Blowers website, he has a treasure trove of preowned stuff with prices as a guide.

It will be a bit tricky to get rid of second hand, it's not an overly desirable model (as mentioned, Stainless Steel is where most people go) so expect to take a serious hit on chopping it in against a new one.
The flipside being when buying a new Gold one (especially so if it's solid 18k Gold) is that I would expect a hefty saving over list. Haggle hard and you should see a good deal. smile

Oh and pics!! biggrin

As it's a 2000/2001 watch it's value will have increased hugely compared to what you paid for it.
Still a desirable watch just a smaller Market than the more common SS models.

Personally I think it will sell really well. If not, when you find your gold one have the faces swapped.

Gents - as ever your input is invaluable - I'll take a pic of the watch in question later tonight - incidentally - I was considering having the faces swapped as the face on my existing Rolex is more valuable than a 'non gem' face - pics to follow ........... thanks Barry
