I've been toying with the idea of selling my S/S Daytona and replacing it with an IWC Potuguese Chronograph(371438) and a secondhand S/S submariner with date. I know I'll have to add a few £££'s as well but I'm unsure whether I will regret it later on. I really am unsure what to do. I know there are the people who say the Daytona is a crap watch and over priced but I'm glad to say I've owned one.

I've not been wearing the watch for some time and using a Seiko 5 everyday which is a fantastic watch for very little money.

Your thoughts please.

I think you're unsure, I think you should think about thinking about it more before selling so you can be sure you're sure. Don't want to regret a regretful sale.

My personla opinion is that I own watches I wear, not that I intend to wear one day, but wear regularly... whilst owning beautiful watches is a wonderful thing, IMO owning beautiful watches that don't see the light of day is a bit daft.
So would these 'new' watches get more wrist time?

I would probably wear the submariner on a daily basis with the IWC being a now and again watch.

I have had a good offer for the Daytona. The deal is a new IWC Portuguese chrono and a year old sub with me parting with about £3K. Not sure I really want to spend £3K though.

Sounds to me as if you should move the Daytona on either way, for no other reason than that it will give you something different for your wrist.

You don't have to add the £3k though. You could just swap it for the sub + cash.

I too think that a Seiko 5 is a lot of watch for very little money; and an excellent everyday watch. smile
