First post in this sub-forum, so I'll start by selling hello!

I have a problem, a nice one, but a problem nevertheless, and I'm hoping you may be able to help with suggestions.

It is coming up to a major wedding anniversary in the HH household and I found out last night (lots of JD tends to loosen the tongue!) that my good lady wife has, bless her, been saving up for a long while and was planning to buy me a blue face Monaco (been after one for years) to celebrate.

What triggered this admission was a conversation earlier in the village pub with some very close friends, one of whom is celebrating his 40th this year. His good lady told us in confidence that she had been saving up and was planning to buy him a Monaco as a surprise and that the blue face was her preference!

A significant coincidence, then, and since we would not wish to come across as 'copycats' and that his 40th is before our anniversary, we agreed that an alternative must be found.

So, over to you learned folk - have you any suggestions for alternatives to replace 'my' Monaco??

Nothing really to add. I'm interested in a Monaco the blue face one myself. I'd be tempted by one of the plainer black face ones at a push.

Can you not get the blue faced one anyway?

There are some really nice ones on the Heuerboy website and far better used than some of the new TAG ones.
I would avoid any that are prefaced with the word TAG and you would do better to buy a pre-owned one rather than a new one.
Just my personal opinion, you understand.

If you like the square shape and fancy a Heuer - why not go Silverstone ?

Would be my options.

If you're willing to broaden out and the budget is in the £3.5k range then my money would be going on a JLC Master Home Time or an IWC Portuguese.

You could go for a 5512 Submariner.

That was Steve McQueen's daily watch which he wore from the 60s until he
died.He wore it off camera whilst filming Le Mans too.

He gave the Monaco away to someone when filming finished.
