Been looking for a while and after deciding I could not be bothered with the slef winding ones stopping if you don't use them every day and having to mess about with that, I have eventually decided on one of the battery ones.
Retail price is £1310 (want a black face one 41mm full size).
So what is the best place and price anyone can recommend. Most places will give 10% wthout any trouble making it at £1180 (goldsmiths). Also looks like there are a few on Ebay which have been bought with tesco vouchers from Goldsmiths and are going for about a grand. Not sure if this is the right route as I would need the strap altering and so adding to the cost etc.
Any help advice is welcome.
Prefer the look of the planet ocean but as I said before not going down the self winding route.

It's out of production now but, if you like the look of the PO then the 2264.50 is the best looking battery SMP you can get, never a fan of the face on the 'bond' SMP myself, all imho.
You might be able to pick up a unused old stock one as they've been off the lists for well over a year now at similar money. Failing that you should be able to pick up a newish perfect second hand one for around £650-850 or 500 for an older one.

If you mean this one:

http://www.omegawatches.com/gents/seamaster/300-m-...

then I'd give Dominic_H from here a call. He'll be able to get you a good discount.

the 2264.50 is no longer in production and in high demand, even with the quartz movement. You'd need to keep an eye on the main classified forums (and do me a favour, don't start a thread asking how you can join TZ-UK.com) and be ready to move fast.

I would second that, Fantastic service from Dominic_H. I just picked up a new Speedmaster from him. Don't worry about getting the strap adjusted etc, I got mine changed locally in 5 minutes for £6.

In fact, this is what I received:

I did the strap on my PO in 5 mins at home...cant recall how exactly but it would have been with a drawing pin and a kitchen table!

Got 25% at Beaverbrooks during the week on the SMP Quartz, retailed at £1310, just told them an independent had offered me one at £980, and they said they'd match it.

Don't tell them a grey dealer has offered you that, as they then go into "could be fake, no warranty" etc etc, so just say a local independent AD.

Not got one yet but best price so far on the high street is 1100, but they didn't have one in stock. That basically represents the vat knocked off.

17-20% off RRP is something that should be within reach on most high street watch purchases, unless you're after something super new and super rare. I managed to get that off a £400 longines for my wife with only some light prodding.

will be in Leeds at the weekend and will see if I can better that price. At least I know that is now the maximum I will be paying. Was hoping to get a little nearer the 980 which was mentioned a little earlier on this thread.

Have you seen this? Not sure if the model is exactly right but it's a full (41mm) size, auto with Co-ax movement rather than a quartz and has the black dial you want.

Ha! Having spare cash from the non-stop babygro and kid equipment buying festival for watches would be a fine thing!
