Guys I picked up my first proper automatic watch today, a Seiko Skx007 from Creation watches.

Excuse my lack of knowledge but am I doing something wrong as it keeps on stopping. 4 times today ive had to take it off and put it to the correct time because it has got so far behind the time.

Even tonight whilst cooking my tea, it keeps stopping. Have a got a faulty one or is this how automatics work?

Think that may be faulty.

Unfortunate.

They're not all like that though, all my autos keep great time.

Creation have a warranty (a year I think) get it sent back.

With the crown unscrewed, wind it 30 times to power it then see if this still happens. It may be that you haven't really moved your wrist much.

Ok I took it off 10 minutes ago and it's stopped. I've unscrewed the crown and turned 30 times (both directions) and it's not moved.

Apologies. You can't wind that watch manually. Ok, hold the watch with your thumb and finger on opposite sides of the face eg thumb at 3, index finger at 9. Gently make arcs with the watch such that the rotor inside will start to rotate and wind up the mainspring ie it is moving side to side from 3 to 9. Does the second hand start moving? If so, repeat this for 5 minutes and then wear it; see how long it is before it stops.

It's starting/stopping whilst I'm making the arcs. When I stopped it carried on ticking for 20 seconds, it's dead again now.

I've put it down and it's started working now?

I'm guessing I have a faulty one?

Yes it's faulty. Bad luck I'm afraid!

Just my fking luck I've been waiting 4 weeks for it.

I think I might be in trouble as I had the strap adjusted this morning as soon as I got it. Will they still have it back?

I should think so, after all a faulty product is a faulty product and it would be the same if it failed after 6 months long after you'd had it adjusted. Really unlucky to have one fail like this, particularly that model frown

Give the watch a damn good shake from side to side.

I've had loads of these types of Seiko's & have never even heard of one that won't wind. Bad luck if you really have got a dud.

Which part of the country are you in? Maybe a local PH watch enthusiast can have a quick look for you just to confirm.

I'm in Birmingham. I'll give it a real good shake tomorrow see how it performs, if it's the same I'll get onto creation and send it back.

Don't shake it like a ginger baby... just enough to get the rotor moving to wind up the mainspring.

Same movement as the "5" isn't it? Just whoosh it left and right (with the crown fully in) for 30 seconds like you're scattering seeds.

But it does sound faulty frown. My 5 ran for 48 hours this weekend sat on the shelf...

Right, I'm convinced its faulty. I put it on at 6am today, set the time and it was fine.

I have been at work all day (milling about not sitting still) and it has lost 12 minutes already. I have been watching it for the last 10 minutes or so and every 2 minutes it stops for about 5-10 seconds, then starts ticking again.

I won't be buying another Seiko.

For reference, I shook my Seiko 7002 auto for all of about 15 seconds this morning and it's holding time fine.

Fire an email off to Creation.

I am surprised as my experience of Seikos (I've had one too many) have been rather good. Do you like the look and feel of it?

I can understand why you're p$ssed off with it but please don't right off Seiko based on this single experience, you've been genuinely unlucky with this one.
