Not usually what you see on this forum but it's my little sisters 21st in a couple of weeks and I'm thinking of getting her a nice watch that will hopefully last a while and have a little sentimental value.

Obviously the budget is pretty low so it's going to be something quartz from a high street shop I guess but I'm after something that will still look the part.

She's not really into her bling and I don't wan't to get her anything plasticky and cheap looking. Was thinking something along these lines but hoping for some suggestions.

If you want a well made watch that's built to last at that price your options are limited, but if I were you I would try to get one from a reputable watchmaker rather than a fashion brand.

I was going to suggest a Skagen as some of the ladies designs they do are very smart, but reviews suggest they do tend to break.

The problem is is that although a Seiko would be clearly the better watch, as she knows zilch about watches, the fashion brands would probably have more wow factor for her. Quite like that 2nd seiko though... maybe one for the missus

Bought the missus a Skagen for Christmas. MOP dial, smallest diamonds ever found scattered about the place for £80 from everyone's favorite auction site.

Looks well built to me with a solid, sturdy deployant on the bracelet.

Forget everything you know about watches, just match her style.

She's not arsed about flyback day indicators or lunar cycles on leap years, she just wants the one some bint on the telly has.

Take a look at Citizen. Got the OH one for Christmas: a bit higher budget but seems very well made. Not too bling either but her workmates like it apparently.

If you can stretch to circa £120, then Tissot PR 100's can be had with discount. Saphire crystal, swiss made, water resist 100m and solid feel. I got my Mum one last year.

I realise it is a big jump re the budget though, so maybe a seiko 5 or Mondaine?

If future sentimental value is important (understandable for a significant birthday), then buy from a "watch" manufacturer rather than a fashion house, if only for the aftercare.
