Morning all - stumbled on this sub-forum by accident the other day, loving the seiko monster thread.

Anyhow, my good lady has been working hard and has decided she needs to treat herself to a nice watch. It should be something that will last her a life time. I reckon budget will be between 800 to 1500 quid.

She's decided she wants a silver (colour) one, other than that we don't really know where to start looking. Splashproof would probably be a good idea, but not essential.

What manufacturers would you recommend in this price range? I guess quality and service are the important things, looks being subjective as they are.

ta very much.

i got my wife one of these (an auto, and was in a sale and in your budget but looks wise it's identical).

New quartz are in your budget, autos are over 2K now.

New Oris range looks nice as well, depends on the style you're after:

I like the Omega. Very nice. Not so sure about the Oris personally, but will show her both.
Thanks for the suggestions smile

Interestingly, my missus has a purple Sekonda divers style watch which cost £20. It get's a lot more attention than her Omega!

The Omega is very classy on, she loves it. We also looked at some of the Tag options but didn't like it as much as the Omega (though they have a ceramic ladies watch divers style that's quite nice).

Interesting. She's prepared to buy second hand so will have a look. Is there a good source for 2nd hand watches?
Thanks, wouldn't have thought about a second hand one.

Hermes make some very nice ladies watches; the Tonneau has very elegant shape and has a funky double-wrap bracelet. Not sure of the price, but it's around £1,500-ish.
