My contribution was:

coffee

But even that was a bit too much effort.

By chance, I was looking at that Zenith listing earlier this evening.

TZ is what it is, and it's a bit too serious for my liking. One could call it a big circlejerk if you wanted, but I won't do that as I think I have the same username over there too.

Nope.
That Zenith FS post was a bit bks though, claiming he couldn't offer it for less as he needed the money... he would have done better to just say it's £5k take it or leave it.
As much as I like it on TZ, there are some real knobs over on there! I just don't get involved now!

I thought PH was bad, but over the last few days I've seen some horrendous slagging off between members, on public threads!

Yeah I've seen a few of those.
Mostly they seem to be between members who have been there for ages and feel like they own the place...
That and Eddie's attitude are frustrating. I just try and avoid those threads though.

I think in saying what he did he was trying to avoid the negative reaction that he got, it was maybe a tad niave though.

Turned into a right little sh!tstorm.

What happened on tz is simply business, the guy creating the stink is probably screwing because he didn't make the money himself.

TZ is a forum for enthusiasts, not 'doing business'.

The thread starter was just trying to stir up st (and he succeeded)

As I said on TZ-UK

"There is a difference between buying well & making a profit when selling on at a fair market value & buying specifically to turn a quick profit, but in either case if the price represents a fair deal the next buyer as well as the seller should both be happy."

Gave up on TZ-Uk a long time ago, it's was more agro than pleasure, keyboard bullies thread spoiling, kissing Eddie's arris and generally just becoming tedious....Also Eddie's "liberal moderation" isn't quite as liberal as he'd like you to think, he just throws a strop via PM instead of in public.

Yes, TZ is a forum for enthusiasts but that particular individual saw an opportunity to make some money which would class it as "doing business".

The same thing happens on pistonheads with cars, on sports forums with equipment etcetc.

Never had buyers remorse or a change in circumstances? He bought the watch because he wanted it, had a touch of the seconds, maybe a change in finances, so he's meant to give it away at what he paid?

Hang on a minute, I'm not having a pop at the person who did the deal, actually quite the opposite!

I don't agree at all. I met Tony when I sold him my Union Glashutte. He strikes me as a really genuine guy who is totally enthusiastic about watches.

He was lucky enough to get the Striking 10th at a great price in the sales, does that mean that he *must* sell it on at the same or lower price? Especially since his situation changed and he needed the money.

I think not.

If you read what I have actually written you will see that I back the guy for selling at it whatever price he wanted. He owned it, it was his choice- who cares?

Summary of my thoughts - fair play to the guy! He was open and honest, didn't buy *purely* to sell at a profit, and still put it up for a good price.

Apologies, it was the phrase "saw an opportunity to make some money", which I took to mean that you thought it was his intent from the start.

But I agree, sellers can and should sell at whatever price they want. No one is forced to buy after all.
