Wrist size? Personal preferences?

Mine are 8" & I don't like little things. I have a 42mm watch & think it is a little small TBH. I now have a large Omega PO and would say that it is pretty much a perfect fit and isn't big in any way, shape or form. However, I know people who are at least the same size as me but who would feel uncomfortable with anything more than a 40mm Rolex (something I considered but dismissed as being a bit too wee).

Depending on how much you want to spend, it may just be worth buying a cheap version of small size & larger size to see what you feel most comfortable with.

8.2 inches isn't a small wrist!

You'd be fine with 42mm.

Go for the C7 Rapide. It is a lovely watch.

Infact, I have a mint condition one with bracelet and leather strap that I could sell you wink

I'm like a beanpole, I wear 42mm watches.

As long as the lug tip to lug tip isn't more than the width of your arm you'll be OK.

I have to take 4 links out of most watches.

42mm shouldn't feel too big. As much as the width, have you thought about the height? Most of my watches are about the same depth, but those that have a slab sided profile such as the Stowa MO wear a lot bigger on the wrist than something like an Omega Speedmaster pro, where much of the height comes from the slightly domed back and front glass. In profile it actually looks quite slim because the case itself is shallower than the glass and back. If that makes sense?

Let's see what it is! As Stuart says, the design of the watch makes a big difference to how it wears.

Any watch 38mm to 40mm generally looks ok for me, but I would go 2mm either way depending on the design.

I just measured my wrist and it's 8.2 inches.

Currently wearing a 38mm tag.
Sounds like you're just used to smaller watches. I have 6.5 inch wrists and wear up to 42mm ok.

One other thing to note (as well as what has been said by others) is the bezel width; it can make a small watch look larger and a big watch look smaller. My G-shock Cockpit Diver is 45mm with a thick, sloped bezel so it looks smaller as the face is smallish - in fact, it makes my 40mm Smiths PRS-27B look big. Witch craft, I tell thee.

Agreed! 6.2inch wrists here. My 35mm Seiko is just big enough

My wrists are ~7" and I wear a 42mm Omega and it isn't a problem.

7.5 inch wrist here, regularly wear 44mm and 46mm without looking like I've got a grandfather clock strapped to my arm..

I've got small wrists, and prior to recently I thought that 38mm would be my maximum. Then I tried on various larger watches in shops, and found out they actually look fine on me. It depends on the watch though.

With Christopher Ward, there's always their 60 days returns policy, so you don't have to worry.

I yesterday got a Christopher Ward C5 Malvern Aviator (mk1) on leather strap. At 38mm it fits very well, however I've found the strap was too loose, even on the last hole; a local chap punched a new hole in it for me, and now all's well.

I'm 8" and wear a 34mm watch, amongst others. With a l/s shirt it looks fine but with a t-shirt it looks a bit small, especially if I've been wearing a larger watch straight before.

yes
I have 7" wrists, and I got a C3 Malvern Chrono with black face and it's fine. If you're looking at it on your wrist and think it looks slightly big, looking in a mirror is a good way of getting some perspective on it.

One thing is that the strap is ever so sligthly loose on the last hole, though I prefer it this way as it stops my wrist getting sweaty. I think I'm right in saying that Christopher Ward will add an extra hole in the strap when ordering if you ask nicely, though the OP with 8.2" wrists should be fine.

Use the tape measure your missus runs around the house with, wondering where she can fit yet more scatter cushions. Not on the bed of course, that's maxxed out with eight.

Is there a time of day to measure oneself? At times my girth is larger than others redface
My dumb question for today, how does one measure my face?
Is it 6 o ' clock or quarter to 3.
