TW Steel - What do those in the know think?

I'm after some advice from those far more knowledgeable than me in all things watches. I've had an Omega Seamaster for the last 13 years and it's been my everyday as well as smart watch for most of that time. I do have a couple of other watches but I fancy a change to something more 'entry level' for day to day use and have been sent details of an offer for a TW Steel F1 Pilot 48mm for £89 brand new. The price looks right and I like the watch itself but TW Steel are not a make I've really heard of before so what do those in the know think of them as a brand? Any horror stories I should be aware of?

They are a fashion brand, so it won't be as nice a watch as your Seamaster, but the one thing which strikes me is the size - 48mm is a bloody big lump of a watch, and it'll sit proud of your wrist at 14mm. If you wear shirts daily, you're going to have a problem getting it under a cuff...

They are a cheapish nice looking watch, if you like the looks of them which I do, they are cheap enough you don't have to worry too much about if they are in fashion in a few years time.

I have got the Chrono version and love it!

Was worried about the size as I have small wrists but it is fine (are there different sizes??)

I also wear it under a double-cuff shirt and it is ok - a little snug but I can still move the cuff back to see the time.

Always fancied a TW Steel myself. As a car nut and living in the Netherlands, I should have scooped a Spyker TW Steel Canteen 45mm version when I had the chance. Bit priccy at EUR345 though.

The rings around the chrono displays match the exhaust tips on the Spyker cars.

I don't know anything about them other than I like them.

Its just they are too big for me. Got a good look at a chrono the other day and was quite impressed.

Just not for me same goes for those U-boat watches.

Cheers guys. I think I'll take a punt on it and see. I'm a bit worried about the size as it's a good 10mm+ bigger than my Seamaster but worst case I should be able to get my money bak on ebay I guess.

My advice, don't 'take a punt'.

I did.

I regretted it. Instantly.

They have nothing going for them at that price point.

But, what do I know? I'd say the same about Seamasters at that price point.

Nope, he's an ambassador to the brand.
Coulthard is (or was, at least last year) as well.

£89 is a bargain - If you don't like it, you could always sell it on for roughly the same, perhaps a bit more! However I imagine the 45mm version will be easier to sell in comparison to the 48mm.
