The winder on my Carerra detached itself this morning...ar$e.

Sugestions of places for a repair beyond trotting off to approved high street TAG-H outlets greatly appreciated.

Baa, I hate seeing these threads as I know it is inevitable that mine will pop off at some point frown

I believe Chealwatch have been recommended in the past, Tagexchange use them for alot of work.

Has the stem sheared off inside the crown ?
Indeed I think so, centre of crown has remains of stem in middle and you can just about see other end inside watch body.

Is this a common problem that plagues the TH Carrera?

I was thinking of getting one of these.

It's a ~.9mm threaded piece of steel, so no different to any other watch, though things like crown guards and screw down crowns make it a little less likely on chunky divers watches.

It's a shame really as I really like the design. I guess I'll pay a bit more and get an Omega Speedmaster Moonwatch instead. I've already got a fullsize Seamaster Auto and really wanted another brand but there aren't that many I like.

Indeed, my Railmaster is better in that respect.

So any other suggestions for where to go for good and reputable repair.....? Anyone else?

(BTW had the Carerra about five years - sort of daily wearer to potect leather straps of other watches.]

The stem is the same grade supplied with all ETA 7750's; whether its in a TAG, Breitling or Omega etc.

From your pic, it looks like there's not enough meat left on the stem (crown side) to extract it. Meaning that you need a new crown, aswell as a stem.

It must've taken a fair few knocks to have broken it, it's quite a tough little piece of metal!

Watches.co.uk also offer a repair service....
