Hi
I've got a short trip to Manhattan coming up and thought I might treat myself to a present while I'm out there.
Any recommendations in terms of shops or dealers, preferably looking for pre-owned but maybe new too ?
Thanks
John
Even with the exchange rate I found them more expensive than London. Will dig out some cars - few good second hand watch places.I've got a short trip to Manhattan coming up and thought I might treat myself to a present while I'm out there.

Torneau shop.
Has such a wide selection of watches.
I would also visit the Breguet shop who are quite possibly the nicest staff ever and were wanting to get watches out for me to have a close look at even though I had said on entry I was just looking as way out of my price range.
These were one of the guys I dropped into (opposite panerai NYC). They passed me around the corner to another shop which was a treasure trove (with Heuer McQueen). Need to dig out the details.Has such a wide selection of watches.

There's plenty on the section of 5th Avenue and the mid 50's.
Had a nose around there over Christmas and New Year just gone.
There's a big Tourneau on 5th/57th East, opposite the new Breitling store which is also worth a look, very nice staff and there's a kind of mini museum on the 2nd or 3rd floor.
There was a store near the Rock that had a nice collection of used and vintage pieces, can't for the life of me remember the exact location though!
Don't expect too much (if any) discount from these stores though, although I did work out that a Breitling watch I bought here with a 20% discount was the same price there (and I would have got a nice freebie), not including any import duty on the way home (if caught) of course!
Have a great time, no other place like it.

Around that area there's another interesting shop in little shopping arcade, also on one of the side streets, but I can't remember its name. It's between 5th and 6th Avenues (or 4th and 5th), might be 56th St?Had a nose around there over Christmas and New Year just gone.
