I've dealt with Steve @ Ryte Time and always been happy with his work.
Drop him a mail, I'm sure he'd be able to help.
If he won't accept a watch from abroad, drop me a PM, I'd be happy to act as an intermediary. smile

And if you fancy a chronograph, there's always Offshore to consider...

Apparently uses a modified Valjoux movement.
I've got one of these, the Field Engineer Chronograph. Best watch in the world - although I might be a little biased.....

Woah there! Pics? I do prefer your past models as I don't really like Roman numerals.

What about Bremont?

Modified swiss movements but made in Henley on Thames.

Don't pics count as advertising?

My website gives me a summary of locations people have come to it from, so when good old Pistonheads popped up I had to see what you guys might be saying.

It's funny, but lots of people say they prefer the tachymeter bezel I tried out on one of the prototypes, but one of the good things about making your own watches is that you don't necessarily have to listen to advice! The roman numnerals, particularly my favourite number 8, really suit the watch far better than a tachymeter.

Fair enough, but I would prefer either a diver's bezel,a tachymeter or plain bezel. Just not Roman numerals. I appreciate you might like it but then it depends if you want to sell more or cater to a few. smile

Out of interest, why did you stop using your own movements?

Not wishing to cause offence here (far from it!), as it's your company, but if you want to sell watches and make some money, surely listening to the general public would be a good thing? I think it's a lovely looking piece, especially the decorated movement. However as Hoofy said, I'm not keen on the roman numerals either, and that would be enough for me to look elsewhere.

I suspect that rather depends on why you're doing it.

Making the watch you like and selling it to people who happen to share your tastes seems like a reasonable model - just not an especially commercially-focused one.

I agree. However perhaps a choice of bezel design would cater to both sides, thus more cash and more clients ... ?

yeah, I know I should do a tachymeter bezel version, but to be honest I build watches as a hobby (I'm an engineer and my wife tells me I'm past the fast cars and fast boats stage of life, so this was the next best thing) and I like building things that suit me. I had to stop building the watches myself as ETA, who make the superb Valjoux 7750 movement I use, decided watches with their movements had to be built in switzerland, hence the reason I now have a swiss watchmaker do the final assembly for me.

I do have some tachymeter bezels though so if any Pistonheads members want one then I could be tempted to build the odd special. I might even do a special price you can convince my wife that middle aged men do not look silly in fast cars.

I'm going offline for the next few weeks as I'm heading back down to Africa for my day job, so hope everyone has a good weekend.

Just wondering if you've considered building a movement from scratch?

I don't suppose you can get more British than having bits of HMS Victory used in the watch.... http://forum.atgvintagewatches.com/showthread.php?...

I love the fact it's strictly limited to 4,999 pieces ... I doubt they will ever sell that many of 'em!

That's my favourite bit, like you'd be outraged if they made 5,000!

Haven't had a good chuckle at the Bradford Exchange for a while.

I hear they're marketing this soon -
