Lea Valley White Water Rafting
Discussion
What a cracking way to spend a few hours!
I know one or two of the local PHrs are into water sports (and a few like to mess around with canoes also
), so thought I'd pass on some feedback...
The Lee Valley Park white water centre in Waltham Abbey/Cross is where the Olympic canoe competition will be held. It recently opened and joe public can make use of the excellent facility in all manner of ways.
Yesterday nine of us spent 4 hours there on an inflatable, and we tackled the course 6 times - apparently at grade 4 and then 5 for those of you who know what this means.
We had an hours worth of briefing and training before being let loose along with our instructor on the course. It was an absolute hoot, and also surprisingly very tiring. 'Highlight' of the day was a flip which was for some a little too exciting, but bloody hell, it didn't half get the adrenalin flowing!

It cost £50/head for our own boat & instructor, £10 for a CD each with all photos and videos taken by the course team, and we had two buckets of beer thrown in within that price to enjoy on the terrace afterwards.
Brilliant day out!

Chris, I actually thought of you when I posted this as you're one of the locals who, if I remember correctly, was into canoes and stuff. I'm not sure about the booking situation, but they were extremely helpful and I'm sure a quick call would sort it out!
