Major Accident - A1 Southbound between 'wade and Baldock

Looks pretty bad. A1 has been closed southbound for a good few hours now and a queue has formed on the northbound road by people being tts and stopping to look.

All I can find about it is a "major accident involving a car and a tractor" - really hope everyone is ok but it didn't look good.

Has anyone come across any news about it? I use that part of the A1 a lot and so I'm just a bit curious as to what caused it given it's a straight bit of road - looked like it was where there is a lay by.

Been down to Potters Bar twice today (from Langford) and luckily missed this. Doesn't sound good - a few years back we were involved in an accident on the same stretch northbound with a tractor and the tractor drivers son was killed. Problem is there, it's a 70mph dual carriageway and tractors just pull out and with no hard shoulder, there's no spare room.

Years ago I was northbound nr Langford, came up the hill to be greeted by some old tt in lane 2 heading south , good job there was room to pull in to lane 1 or it would have been nasty.
