Long story, but I'm halfway through rebuilding a 2 stroke Trabant engine...and really struggling to get the pistons in the barrels. I have a ring compressor but still managed to break a ring !

So, I can get new rings (have to order from Hungary & it's a slow delivery).

I was wondering if I could find a local place to measure/supply new rings & hopefully with a bit more skill and experience refit the pistons.

It's not a huge job, hence a small friendly place would be more likely to help I guess.

Any ideas ?

High Town Engines in Luton are pretty good-the place looks like an absolute craphole but the workmanship in my experience is very good.

Don't know if they're still there-last time I used them was a couple of years ago and it is an old boy running it.
