Hi all,

Some time last night (8th Jan) someone hit our parked car and drove off. Came to it this morning to see this:

The bits on the floor are from whoever hit it, metallic green. Looks like they reversed out of the bay and hit it. When we'd parked up yesterday afternoon there was a Green Mondeo parked in the bay where, if reversing out without looking/too fast/drunk you would hit a car parked up.

So, somewhere most likely in Stevenage/Herts area there is a MK2 Metallic Green Mondeo with a busted rear bumper & light (Driver side)

If you spot such a car could you let me know the Reg please, I'd dearly love to remind them how impolite it is to run off.

Thanks.
Rob

And yes, I really should wash the car!

A Mondeo with a cracked bumper - that should narrow it down to about 100,000 cars wink

I'll keep an eye out though mate, really crap thing to happen.

Nothing yet, they don't know. Took a walk around this evening and saw it parked up in the street nearby so came back with camera and a couple of the larger pieces to see if they fit, they did, just need to also inform insurance company and the garage to make sure they retain any evidence.

Glad you caught them.

Someone managed to reverse into our wall this afternoon. It looks a hefty hit and the person must have been a terrible driver (they would have to drive up high curb then another 2 foot over pavement to the wall!)

I'm betting it's the gypsys doing a drive few doors down and we'll get a knock on the door tomorrow: 'hey mister your wall looks damaged do you want us to fix it...'

Quick update on this.

So the insurance company called to say that the Mondeo has two people insured on two seperate policies on it. As no one has admitted liability yet, they can't do anything unless the Police press charges, I need to get onto them to find out what they're doing since I gave them the cars details along with photos etc.

Will update this once I know a bit more next week frown

well, not much more to report, except the owner is apparently in Scotland and has referred to the current driver, which means it would be easier to identify between the two of them who would have been driving that night and that person has until the 16th to return the paperwork to the station.

The only issue really is lack of a witness, there's plenty of evidence otherwise and that's only where it's likely to fall over, I guess it depends on how thorough the BiB are going to be. Thorough enough I hope!

At the moment, I'm £300 down, £150 for the excess on that hit, then someone reversed into the Courtesy car! (no accidents in 15years then this!) Thankfully details were swapped on that so I should at least see that excess back!!!

Back when I was still at my parents we used to have an old lady living a couple of doors down, must have been about 80, she drove an old Green Triumph but kept hitting the wall of our Neighbour as it was next to her drive entrance. We used to call her the Fiend of Bearton Road smile

Ha well the gypsys did turn up asking if we wanted our drive done, and i fixed the wall for now.

Just heard from sister though that our neighbour (opposite) reversed out his drive yesterday into the side of my car!! Luckily he has a conscience and came round and told us.
Hope you get yours all sorted soon

That shouldn't be a problem. Someone hit my car in a car park, no-one saw but I had photos of the damage on each car. My insurance company sued his, the day before the court case his insurance company backed down and paid. If it is only a few hundred pounds worth of damage it is more expensive for the insurance comapny to send their lawyers to court than it is to just pay up.

I didn't know you could do that, I tried a to do that a few years ago when I borrowed my Mum's car for a couple of months and it was a no-no.

Great detective work thumbup

Yes I wasn't sure either, apparently you can do it but you're not supposed to. The insurance company clarified this further yesterday by saying it can sometimes appear that two policies are running on one vehicle if that person is in the process of switching policies, the systems don't always catch up!

Quick update.

The owner of the Mondeo owned up and we got the £150 excess back.

The irony of this is that the van who subsequently hit the courtesy car we had who owned up at the time is now denying any responsibility!
