and don't know which experience to choose, which aircraft will be more fun:
- open cockpit Pitts Special for its... opencockpitness smile I'm assuming it makes the experience so much stronger, feeling of speed etc, like driving a convertible comparing to a normal car
- EXTRA 300 for power, speed etc

Price makes no difference

After that, I think I would like to try the L-39 experience. What's that going to be like? Has anyone been in one?

Never done the L39. You can't tumble one though, if you want to use it again.

Pitts vs. Extra: Most Pitts S2s are operated with a single canopy covering both cockpits, although I think there is one available (Charlie Kimbell's) for commercial use with the option of having the front cockpit open. The Pitts is all about poise, balance and finesse, the Extra rather more brutal, and more wooden on the rudder. If you hang on a few months, there will be some SBach 342s operating on a commercial basis in the UK, which arguably combine both, and a lot more besides.

I would go for a Pitts or Tiger Moth, just 'cos I haven't.

I was actually rather pleased to be upside down, inside out and rotating oddly in Chipmunks and assorted other closed cockpit airyplanes.

What do you actually fancy, if you really don't mind costs, do both Extra and Pitts.

Then come back and enlighten me.

I'll put it on my Bucket List.

Funny you should mention the L-39, my mate has just returned from the states (2 days ago) having done just that, along with some other interesting kites.

He and I are heading out there next year for more of the same.

PM me if you want any details.

Have done L-39 out of Bordeax. There very quick and nimble.I would advise you to get some basic flight training first if you don't already just to get the most out of it as you can get some stick time. But if its pure aero's your after i would be looking at an Extra for smiles per £.

I have 2 Chipmunk flights whilst in the ATC a looong time ago ('86), 1 of which was aerobatic... Sick bag remained unused tucked into my harness! biggrin

Still have my little blue 3822 book with the records

9.5.87 - Aerobatics - Chipmunk WK589

I did it in a Cessna Aerobat about a year ago, bloody loved it. Thanks to the poster that put a link to the one in Leicester as that looks fantastic.
