RNAS Yeovilton Airshow, Show of the year?? this Saturday
Discussion
A very good line up this year.
2x Mig-29s arrived today, one is going to be in the flying display.
Also booked is a German F-4F Phantom for the static, a role demo by the French Airforce, and they have also booked the Sea Vixen.
All star items that RIAT have not managed to get (although why they haven't booked the Sea Vixen I don't know, possibly money).
Yeovilton will also have the Commando assault, usually with about 6-8 Helicopters taking part. They are also celebrating 40 years of the Lynx.
Amongst enthusiasts this is widely regarded as being the show of the year

Yes, I was inside the show. I saw the Mig practice whilst I was queuing up to get in. I didn't hear Rafale boom, will have to check out that clip. Other people on other forums said they heard it.
Re. the camera set up, all bar the first picture are using a Canon 30D (about 5 years old), and a Canon 100-400L IS lens. The camera was about £700 IIRC, the lens about £1,100.

An amazing line up.. normally theres a short while where you can break away and check out the trade stands and get some lunch but there was barely a moment to do that it was such a good set!
Haven't been through all my photos yet but I can tell you that the sport/continuous mode on my camera (just a basic bridge camera - coolpix l110) is in fact utterly worthless and renders about 75% of them useless!
The red arrows were as ever absolutely astounding. Whilst all the pilots there were amazing with their precision the reds manage to combine that with a level of fluidity that is just incredible.
I was quite surprised that they made their entrance over the crowd, I didn't think regulations allowed that any more.
As a final note... do check which car park you're in. Visited every single one before I found the bloody thing again

Some of mine.. as stated the flying ones are generally horrible but some of the static ones came out well. The two aircrew by the f16 is a regular caption competition
