hi saw blog about shemara was on there quite a few times as i live in lowestoft and my father in law who has since died was an old friend of captain and chief engineer they arranged to meet and i picked him up from the train station and we went round and had tea in the mess room they hadnt seen each other for years my father worked on the virginia owned by the courtaulds family. So it was arranged the next time he came back they would prepare a meal of course he took ill and died in hospital.You will probably know that the shemara was towed from lowestoft down to southampton for a reunion of all the people who worked on the ship at one time or another. My father had relatives who were on the j class yacht the brittania as crew hope this is of interest to somebody bye
